Mullingar Town Band are excited to share an update on what’s been happening with the band in recent months. From jam-packed St. Patrick’s Day parades to championship performances, and now a lineup of fantastic concerts coming your way in May, we’re thrilled to be doing what we love and sharing it with you all.
St. Patrick’s Weekend
St. Patrick’s Weekend 2025 was one to remember. Our band was on the road and on the move, performing in six parades across two days! We started things off with a bang at the Limerick International Band Championship on Saturday, March 16th, where we proudly brought home the Best Uniform Award. Then, on St. Patrick’s Day itself (Sunday, March 17th), our members showed true dedication and stamina as we performed at parades in Tullamore (11:30 AM), Clara (12:30 PM), Moate (1:30 PM), Mullingar (3:00 PM), Castlepollard (5:00 PM).
It was a very busy weekend of marching, music, and community spirit, and we’re so proud of how well our members represented Mullingar throughout the weekend. The positive feedback we received along the way made it all worthwhile.
Colourguard Success – Silver at the Winterguard Championships!
A big shoutout to our fantastic Colourguard, who competed in the Winterguard Championships on Sunday, April 27th. After months of preparation, dedication, and hard work, the team delivered a brilliant performance and were awarded 2nd Place with a fantastic score of 76.570!
We’re incredibly proud of these talented ladies. Their commitment behind the scenes and professionalism on the floor truly paid off. A huge well done to everyone involved!

May Concert Series – Three FREE Performances
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to be bringing you three special performances this May under the baton of Vincent Dolan, all free to attend and family-friendly. Whether you’re a regular supporter or just curious to hear some lovely live music, we’d love to see you there.
Tuesday, May 13th – 7 PM, Atrium, County Buildings
We’re kicking off the series in style in the Atrium at the County Buildings with a very special evening of music. We’re especially excited to be joined by the Sweet Tunes Choir—always a delight to collaborate with. And that’s not all—we are honoured to welcome Professor Barry Bernhardt from Florida International University to this concert. Professor Bernhardt, a renowned figure in the world of symphonic concert bands, will be joining us as guest conductor for one piece on the night. Having such a distinguished musician conduct our band is a huge privilege, and we can’t wait to share this moment with our audience.
Sunday, May 18th – 3 PM to 4:30 PM, Mullingar Town Park
Enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the beautiful surroundings of Mullingar Town Park with music by the lake. This concert is weather-dependent, so please check our Facebook page for updates on the day.
Sunday, May 25th – 3 PM to 4:30 PM, Belvedere House and Gardens
We’ll round off the month with a concert in the beautiful setting of Belvedere House and Gardens. It’s the perfect way to spend a Sunday—bring your friends, family, or just yourself and let the music do the rest.

Clonakilty Bound – South of Ireland Band Championships
We’re also busy preparing for one of the highlights of our musical calendar—the South of Ireland Band Championships, which take place in Clonakilty, Co. Cork on Saturday, July 5th. It’s always an exciting and inspiring event, and we’re working hard in rehearsals to give our very best on the day. Wish us luck!
Support the Band – Weekly Online Lotto
As always, we rely on the amazing support of the local community to keep the band thriving. One way you can help is by playing our weekly online lotto fundraiser. Tickets start at just €2.50, and every entry helps us cover the costs of instruments, uniforms, travel, and training for our young musicians. You can get your tickets at: https://www.ourfundraiser.ie/org/mullingartownband
It’s a small way to support something big—thank you to everyone who plays each week!
