Mullingar Town Band is delighted to announce two spectacular community performances this May, titled the “Sounds of Summer” series. These recitals will showcase the diverse talents of local musicians across two iconic venues, offering a mix of formal elegance and relaxed family fun.
The first event in the series takes place on Tuesday, 5th May at 7:00 PM in The Atrium, Westmeath County Council Buildings. This intimate indoor recital will feature the powerhouse sounds of the Mullingar Concert Band alongside the beautiful harmonies of the Sweet Tunes Choir. Attendees can expect a refined program, including a sophisticated performance by a Clarinet Quartet and a high-energy, virtuosic Xylophone solo that promises to be a highlight of the evening. Admission is free, though due to the intimate nature of the venue, space and seating is limited.
Following this, the music moves outdoors for Recital No. 2 on Sunday, 24th May at 3:00 PM in Mullingar Town Park. This family-friendly event invites the public to enjoy the Mullingar Concert Band in a relaxed, open-air setting. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic, grab a blanket, and enjoy a Sunday afternoon filled with popular classics and summer melodies. This performance is weather-permitting and completely open to the public without the need for tickets.
“The ‘Sounds of Summer’ series is our way of celebrating the talent within our ranks and the incredible community that surrounds us,” says Band Director Kim Magee. “We are so grateful for the continued encouragement we receive from the people of Mullingar.”
Mullingar Town Band would like to extend a special thank you to Westmeath County Council for their generous support in granting the use of both The Atrium and the Town Park. Their commitment to local arts ensures that high-quality music remains accessible to everyone in the county.
The band also wishes to thank the local community for their unwavering support throughout the year. Whether attending concerts, supporting fundraisers, or cheering from the sidelines during parades, your enthusiasm is the heartbeat of the band.
